Living Room Étagère

This étagère was a commission for a home in Albemarle County, Virginia. The owners have a very contemporary home with 20 foot high ceilings in the living room. They wanted a custom piece that would provide display and storage space and act as a focal point.

Architectural details in the house are vaguely nautical and this new étagère echoes that theme with its mast like vertical core, cross bar shelves and curved front.

It is six and a half feet tall and eight feet wide with hard wired and dimmer controlled recessed halogen lighting in the three shelves. Three drawers and three cubbies provide plenty of storage. Lacewood and Macassar Ebony woods were used to provide a rich warm contrast to the white walls and light carpet.
