why hire me
I love my work as a freelance designer. It gives
me the experience of working with clients from beginning
to end. I excel at uncovering needs, organizing information and developing projects
from concept through final production. I understand the
big picture and how best to utilize the web and print
media to grab your audience's attention. I will
help you communicate your message across media and
create solutions, which are on
message, on budget and on time. I invite you to spend some time
browsing both the graphic & web
design and the studio
furniture & lighting sections of my web site
to get a better idea of what I do and my design sensibility. Please contact
me for an appointment to meet and talk about
your needs.
what's with the furniture?
I’m glad you asked. It shows
that I understand how to design inventive, unusual
and, yes, sometimes-funky things that work in the
real world. A coffee table with adjustable
feet so you can level it on uneven floors, a mantle
clock that you can tell time on from 20 feet away, and
a hall table that won't tip over when you bump into
it. I thrive on the opportunity to look and think
outside the box. I’ll help you uncover what
it is you want to do with your web site, logo
or poster Then I will design a solution that
stands out in a crowd.
who I am
Born in Stockton, California, I was raised in San Francisco with a couple of years away at school in Pennsylvania and upstate New York (long story). I returned to San Francisco where I graduated from Galileo High School. I eventually went on to study industrial design, sculpture and furniture
design at California State Universities, Chico and Long Beach.
After receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Art from CSULB, I thought
it best to get a “real job”. I worked in sales
and management for the lumber and building material
industry for over ten years.
In 1997 Jennifer and I quit our “real
jobs” and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia
where I have returned to my passion for design. I spend most of my time now on graphic and web design, but I still enjoy working in many different media and exploring
all design fields. When I have time, you will find
me working
in my studio on furniture, lamps and architectural projects, striving to use only reclaimed and sustainable materials.
