Remember the 1953 movie "The War of the Worlds"? This lamp was inspired by the Martian space ships.

The solid aluminum arms both support the bulb and carry the 12-volt current to the 20-watt halogen bulb. The usual bulky socket has been eliminated so that the transition from aluminum to bulb is sleek and uninterrupted.
